8 Positive Things Having A Job Will Teach You | What I Learned When I FINALLY got an office job!

To be really honest, I’ve done my fair share of bashing on our society (and learned from my university professors all about how capitalism is destroying to the world...), but too much moaning only drags my spirits down. It’s time for me to find the middle way. Being negative about this world we live in isn’t going to help me or help you make the world a better place.

As life would have it, I found my way into my dream jobs in 2019. What I get to do now is something that was only a distant dream before.

I became an entrepreneur when I graduated university to avoid what I thought was the “job trap” - getting stuck in a soul-sucking job. Life has a way of making sure that we make amends and in 2019, I found my way into my dream jobs. I’ve been on healing journey ever since I walked into the office and it keeps getting better and better. What I thought would kill me is actually making my life better.

A Disclaimer: I currently have jobs that, while not perfect, are great. However, my current job situation may change by the time that you read this. Only God knows exactly life holds. What I do know is that no matter what situation I find myself it, I will do my best to rise above. I will not be crushed by my circumstance. I will stay positive, be resilient and keeping finding new ways to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

When I got an office job, I discovered:

1. There are lots of perks to having a job. Another video on this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmf3TfIwyE0&t=6s

2. Jobs are great for getting your discipline muscles into shape! I grew my discipline muscles 100x. My job forced me to be disciplined with my time, and my resources. As an entrepreneur, I was very free-flowing with my time, working endless hours and constantly mulling over work. I’ve learned to be disciplines about rest, fun and nurturing relationships, which allows me to perform even better at work.

3. Structure is good. My job gives structure to my days, which allows my creativity to thrive. If you had coffee with me last year, and you told me to wake up at 5am, I would have laughed in your face. Yet here I am, now a proud advocate of 5am’s. It’s a daily ritual that brings pristine energy to my days and makes every other aspect of my life better. On weekends, I sometimes look forward to the routines of the weekdays, where I can feel productive, accomplished and inspired.

4. I have the power to make change. There are problems I can solve and relationships I can build that do make a difference for those I work with and the clients we serve. Don’t let the negative voices get to you. Even on the worst days, your work is making a difference in the world (and if you find yourself truly convinced that your current company is not aligned with your values, keep believing that there is better place for you! There are hundreds of incredible companies alive today and they would love to have you.)

5. Jobs are great for professional development. While jobs may not be the best place to make lifelong friends, it is a place that you can grow and develop hard skills and soft skills that will allow you to keep contributing to our world.

6. Jobs are great for personal development. Where else are you going to learn to be more kind, humble, compassionate? This is where your spiritual path (LINKKK) meets the arena. Chop away your ego and learn how to lead from a place of integrity, devotion and servanthood.

7. A job does not have the power to suck the life out of me. Ultimately, I am responsible for how I live my life and the quality of my attitude and disposition. I can complain or I can roll my sleeves and look for solutions.

8. The world is big and I love being a part of it. The fact that we get to participate in modern society is a gift. When I look at what other companies are doing, I am amazed by how we humans can contribute, engineer and build. Everything we have today is because someone worked before us.
